“What Does Healing Mean to Me?” – MN Women’s Press Article
I’ll forever be discovering the “Why’s”; the pull and the yearning to dig deep into healing parts of me that need tending to. It’s been a central part of me from an early age. (Pisces rising, perhaps?:) Music, dance and theatre have been such huge avenues, and most recently discovering intentional ways to do so in community as we move out of this pandemic space.
It was a lovely exercise to write a piece for the Minnesota Women’s Press among these strong MN folk, and I’m grateful to be a part.
“For me, healing centers around the holding of space; space for our inner, space for each other, and space for the divine.”
Cheers to holding the space. Sending love.

“Under the Moon” – New Single
I’m so excited to share “Under the Moon” with you. It was inspired by friends who meet under the New and Full Moon’s to hold space for one another. This practice has become an important part of my life and my healing. It also reminds me that this life is magic. What a gift it is to have people to grow alongside and to witness.
Playing this song grounds me. It reminds me how important presence & connection are; to each other, to spirit, to the moon, to our rituals, to our ancestors, to how we pray and how we heal.
To all who have held space for me and with me; I’ve been so fortunate to heal with you and to learn more about myself through your hearts and eyes. I’m honored and grateful.
“Under the Moon” is streaming everywhere!

“I Know That Sound” Lyric Video
I hope this note finds you healthy and well. What a year it has been. The little bits of light that peek through the end of the tunnel now bring me hope. So does the promise of Spring. I hope you’ve got some hope creeping in, too.
As I deepen my own self-discovery, it has become clear how much I value being seen and heard by others, and to reciprocate that in a safe space. I think we’re all connected by the journey towards our truest selves, sharing our stories and finding room to grow, to love, and to be.
I’m glad that this song, originally written for #MeTooMpls, is out in the world taking up some space. Sending love. I miss you. The post-covid hugs will be a thing. (unless hugging isn’t your thing. i’ve gotten good at seeing faces and air hugs too).
xo,
Annie

NEW SONG, “I Know That Sound” for MeTooMpls compilation album!!
It feels good to share some new music with you. Last January, I was asked to be a part of a songwriting collective called MeTooMpls, coming together to raise women’s voices and help fund Planned Parenthood.
I’m grateful that MPR’s THE CURRENT is featuring my contribution to the record “I Know That Sound” as the SONG/DOWNLOAD OF THE DAY today!! Click HERE to hear the song and download. I will be posting on the socials, and if you feel inclined to share and celebrate with me, I would love that! If you’re feeling extra, you can use this link to request “I Know That Sound”. This is a first for me, and it feels a little extra healing.
There are 16 other incredible artists that I admire involved, and several producers, engineers, PR and behind the scenes people who all donated their time. I can’t wait for you to hear ALL of these songs. They are heartbreaking, and empowering, and badass, and gorgeous. I’m so grateful to my incredibly talented friend Matt Patrick at the Library Recording Studio for producing and donating his time, and to my other incredibly talented friend Steve Bosmans for playing on “I Know That Sound”. Just last weekend, we (safely) pre-recorded this song and one other for the Virtual release party on 9.24.20. It will be live streamed from the Hook & Ladder Theatre, and I think it’s going to be pretty magical. You can join us virtually by grabbing a ticket here. It includes a digital download, and all the proceeds go to support the cause. There are also a few other ways to support, and I’ll include links below.
Huge, Ginormous, LOVE to you. Thank you for being here to share these things with. I’m grateful for you. xo, Annie

I Won’t Walk Away: The Rieder Homestead Sessions
Last year I got to become a part of the beautiful family that is The Rieder Homestead. A few months later, we hung out in their magical attic & played some songs. I have so much gratitude for this community. Thank you to Steve Bosmans for being so much fun to play music with, to Brad Bivens for his sound expertise, and all the love to David Dennison for using his big heart and beautiful talent as a videographer and producer to put these sessions and connective concerts together. I hope you’ll watch, and subscribe to “The Homestead Sessions” while you’re at it! Always sending love! ❤️
“Spellbound” Music Video Release!
“Annie Fitzgerald’s version of magic is baroque and seductive, communicated in a breathy whisper, emerging like a natural element.” – Jerard Fagerberg, City Pages
Last summer, on a hot August evening and with a very full heart, I gathered with a group of incredible creative cohorts & friends. We set up in the woods and drew on the elements to bring SPELLBOUND to live visually, and I still feel like the luckiest. In typical Annie fashion, I had some happy tears at the end of the shoot. I was blown away by magic that happens when people come together to create. I feel that way when I make a record, or when I used to work in theatre and wow, what a gift it all is. So many friends who helped with this project were rooted in my theatre days, and it makes this video extra special to me.
I am SO grateful to everyone who helped create this with me & to the musicians who brought the song to life on ‘You & Me & the Sun’. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch this ART what we made!

Annie Fitzgerald Performs in the Radio Heartland Studio
Last week, the band and I had the opportunity to visit Mike Pengra at Minnesota Public Radio for an in-studio session on Radio Heartland. The session and interview can be streamed by clicking the button below!
Mike and I have been exchanging emails since I moved back from NYC, and it was so lovely to finally meet him and talk about the “Spellbound” Video release. With all of the prep and pieces that go into releasing a record, I didn’t get my ducks in a row to line something up before the release of “You & Me & the Sun” last Summer. I think it all worked out how it was supposed to, though. It felt right to circle back to the record as it nears the end of its album cycle, and as I start looking ahead to the next project. Thank you so much for having us, Mike! I’m grateful.

Virtual in-studio Session for WBKM, Burlington, VT!
Big thanks to WBKM in Burlington, VT, for having us play a Virtual in-studio Session, and for their support of “You & Me & the Sun”! This acoustic version of “Listen Carefully” was filmed by Matt Perkins of Perkins Media, at Summer Winter Studios in St. Paul, MN.
Feels Like Summer Music Video!
Jerard Fagerberg of City Pages included the new video in the Top 5 MN music video’s in Local Frames! Yay! We are relying on grass roots love, so please share!
“Her new song “Feels Like Summer” plays like a ritual designed to tease more sunlight out of August. Singing breathlessly between lens flares, Fitzgerald creates an enduring vision of summer. Bookmark it in your browser for January and it just may stave off your Seasonal Affective Disorder. “Feels Like Summer” is from the equally estival LP You & Me & the Sun, which dropped on June 1.” (Jerard Fagerberg)
I am GRATEFUL to my incredibly talented friend Jim Hoppin (www.jimhoppin.com) who directed, shot & edited this video. Fun fact: Jim and I met in Prospect Park (where we filmed this) because of our Basset Hounds. Dogs are love. Art is love. We almost got in trouble with the Police filming said art because we jumped a fence! Oops!? Anything for art, we say!? 🙂 (Huge thanks to you, Jim. And to Kyle Reinfried, and Cristina & Seth Barr!)
Big Love!
